About marcy westerling

I am a long time community organizer with a passion for justice and founded the Rural Organizing Project in 1992. Derailed by a Stage IV Ovarian Cancer diagnosis in spring 2010, I have stayed in treatment since then. I am learning how to embrace livingly dying and hope that by starting a Phase One immunology clinical trial at UPenn in spring of 2013 I will have more time to find the sweet spots of thriving while terminally ill.

  1. My Dear Dear Marcy, I truly miss you, I hope and pray your friends and family do not let your blog slip into the pages of history , I hope and pray that they will keep it going as an online Memorial and tribute to you.

Even though we are in separate countries, and despite your being ill and battling Cancer, you always took the time to comfort me in my moment of need , You were instrumental in helping me grieve and heal the loss of my wife to this insidious disease for that I am eternally grateful , Thank you , Thank you so very much my Angelic friend.

You gave me so much strength to carry on and be the best parent I can be, your gentle words brought comfort to my soul that was tormented by grief . I will always remember you Marcy , may you be at peace and your spirit life be filled with Joy , Peace, and Happiness and Love in abundance .

God only takes the best, and I know that you are now a very beautiful Angel…. but then you always were .

    your friend always

    Leslie.

  2. Tears roll down my face as I realize what I lost and what the human family lost when Marcy’s personal light went out. But her light sure does shine on in all those she mentored, empowered, and touched heart-to-heart. I read through some of the eulogies by those ROP’ers I know and love and who love Marcy. What a powerhouse you all are! Thanks to those who carry on.
